Harlem, New York: Looking into the Tech Future

It seems as if Harlem has its eye on the prize.  In the last few years there has been much talk about New York City and their push to become one of the largest Tech hubs the country has to offer.  This push has been greatly seen in boroughs like Brooklyn where previous Mayors have made it their business to invest and promote the creation of infrastructures that could maintain such a Tech hub.
With this new Mayor in town we see a push for Harlem.  It seems as if Harlem is getting a tech make over.  In the last 2 years numerous of projects have risen throughout the neighborhood in the hopes that infrastructure improves for future investments.  According to Clayton Banks, executive producer of Silicon Harlem their mission is to transform the community into a tech hub.  According to Clayton if they are able to eliminate crime, increase employment opportunities they should; be able to give the Harlem community another Renaissance.

In the few years that Silicon Harlem has been around they have been partnering with local and national politicians and entrepreneurs to help develop a tech scene in Harlem.  A few years back there was an initiative that was started by former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg.  It seems that the torch has now been passed to new mayor Bill De Blasio.  The project includes deploying the largest, continuous free wi-fi network in the United States, right in the center of Harlem.  It is believed that the network will cover around 95 city block.

According to some experts Harlem is the perfect place.  It is closely located to other major points in the city and offers reasonable rent.  Some of the older buildings offer huge spacing which are perfect for converting into an office space.

It is great to see that the city of New York is putting so much interest into the neighborhood of Harlem.  The Tech world is here to stay and if we don’t keep up we will be left behind.  That is why it is great to know that Companies like Cyber Technologies with their expert knowledge in systems integrations and home automation are here to help us keep up.  Along with providing service in the system integration field, Cyber Technologies offers the following services as well:

Microsoft’s “The Cube”: What is it?

We have all grown to know Microsoft as a heavy weight hitter when it comes to the tech world.  Microsoft has been around since the seventies and have been labeled the top dog when it comes to the development, manufacturing, licensing and selling of personal computers, consumer electronics and of course computer software.

Rarely if ever do we associate Microsoft with artistic expression.  I mean take a look at the three generation of their game console, the X-box and you will see what I mean.  But it seems as if things are about to change.  We may soon be looking at Microsoft for the next hottest tech equipment in self expression.

Micosoft has been seen dabbing in a new project titled ”Microsoft Cube”.  So what exactly is the cube you ask.  Well the cube is just that! A cube! Well not just a cube, to be more accurate the cube is a 4 foot cube which combines the use of multiple PCs, projectors and kinect sensors.  It is one of the latest interactive art installations coming out of Redmond, Washington.

So what exactly does the Microsoft cube allow you to do?  Well the cube is basically a projection system that uses 5 PCs, 5 Projectors and 4 kinect sensors to create an interactive environment in which a number of tasks can be performed.  It seems for now the cube will not be made for public use.

The Cube will be showcased in the Seattle Decibel music and art festival.  People will be invited to stand in front of the cube and interact with it.  The cube is currently able to trace the movement of those around them.  Essentially this new device could be used by two different people in two different locations to interact in a virtual space.  Of course this is still to be seen, who knows what Microsoft is thinking of implementing with the Cube.

According to Michael Megalli, Senior director of brand strategy at Microsoft , In the future we might see the cube being  used as a stage for performance, a blackboard for educational purposes or even a display case for museum artifacts.  The possibilities seem endless at this point.

It seems as if the world around us is constantly changing due to technology.  That’s why it is a great idea to have a trusted company like Cyber Technologies at your side for when you might come across something new in the tech world that you don’t quite understand.  Cyber technologies has been helping thousands in their years of service.  For more information on the following services contact Cyber Technologies today.

The Iwatch (You Mean Apple Watch) Has Hit the Scene

After months of speculation Apple Inc. has finally unsealed their lips about their first attempt at a smart watch.  It seems that Apple has gone in a different direction calling this new device the Apple Watch as opposed to the Iwatch.
New York City Alarm Systems

So you may be wondering “what makes this watch so desirable?” Well many things to be honest.  The one that has most people talking is the crazy amount of looks the Apple watch has.  You can choose between 36 different combinations.  There are three main types though, the first is the Apple watch which comes in polished or space black stainless steel, then there is Apple watch sport which comes in space gray or silver anodized aluminum.  For those who don’t mind spending a pretty penny there is the Apple watch edition which comes decked out in 18-karat rose or yellow gold.

Besides the material the Apple watch also comes in two sizes, the smaller of the two sizes is 38mm and the larger is 42 mm.  If you were worried of a broken screen no need to worry.  Where most smart watches and smart phones screens sport the tough material known as gorilla glass, Apple watches screen is made of the second hardest material in the world, Sapphire glass.

The face of the watch has a retina touch screen display.  It can detect the difference between a tap and if your holding down on the screen, this will definitely be opening up many new exciting applications for developers.

When it comes to wifi, the Apple Watch has wireless charging capabilities.  It is also sporting WI-FI 802.11B/G, and Bluetooth capabilities.  As you can imagine this phone comes fully equipped with GPS.

You can expect pretty much the same functions as that of a smart phone, especially an Iphone.  The Apple watch has been made so that is completely compatible with your Iphone as long as your Iphone is an Iphone 5, Iphone 5c, Iphone 5s, Iphone 6 or Iphone 6 Plus.  One of the features that the Apple watch is showing off is Apple Pay.

Apple pay is the ability to purchase goods with the swipe of a device like an Iphone or Apple watch.  Rumor has it that tens of thousands of retailers in the United States will be accepting this form of payment.  Big time companies like Whole Foods market and Macys are already on board.

The watch which claims will second as a heart rate sensor said to hit the market in early 2015 with a price tag of $350 dollars, not bad when you consider you will have the functions of a full blown smart phone on your wrist.  And for those people who can’t live without their loveable SIRI, no worries your virtual personal assistant will now be at your beck and call on your wrist.

These devices have great capabilities, one of the major functions a smart phone gives you is the ability to run your smart home from your wrist.  Lighting, music, thermostats, garage doors and even security systems can be activated and managed from your wrist.
